Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Wednesday that he would inform the public about a number of what he called important political issues on October 8 following meetings with European Union officials.

He said that he expects to have something to say to the Serbian public following his meetings. “We have to take care of our interests and that is what I will speak about on October 8,” he added.

Speaking at the opening of a factory in Indjija, Vucic said that he would meeting with several MEPs and Germany’s Western Balkans envoy Manuel Sarazzin in Belgrade on Friday. He said he would go to Bulgaria on Saturday to meet with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and would discuss migrants policy with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in Budapest on Monday. Vucic said he would see if the procedure to make Kosovo a member of the Council of Europe (CoE) on October 4-5 and would take part in the summit of the European Political Community in Prague on October 6.

Vucic said he would open a factory on October 7 and would address the nation after that.

The Serbian president said he would like to know how the procedure to admit Kosovo to CoE would be launched following the decision to annex four areas of Ukraine to Russia and reiterated that Serbia will not recognize the results of the referendums in those areas.
