Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic told UNMIK chief Caroline Ziadeh the mission’s report should include a clear and unequivocal condemnation of Pristina’s provocations, unilateral decisions and denial of basic rights.

A press release quoted Vucic as saying that the UNMIK report should also include Pristina’s violations of UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and the Brussels Agreement which, he said, constantly jeopardizes the stability of the region. “The UN is the most important international organization for Serbia in the context of preserving its territorial integrity and sovereignty,” he said, adding that Belgrade is committed to cooperation with the mission.

The UN Security Council is due to debate the Secretary General’s report on the activities of the UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) on april 20.

Vucic said that Serbia feels it is important to see timely, adequate and visible reactions by the UN to numerous incidents and provocation and expressed the hope that the UNMIK report will include everything he told Ziadeh. Serbia expects existing agreements to be implemented, Vucic said.

The press release quoted Ziadeh as saying that the presence of UNMIK is very important to maintaining stability in Kosovo through the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and the Brussels Agreement. She said that the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue needs to continue along with regional cooperation efforts.
