Vucic: Serbia competes to organize finals of the European Football League
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said that Serbia has applied for the organization of the finals of the European Football League at the national stadium, which should be built in Belgrade by the end of 2026.
Vucic said that after the opening of the new stadiums in Zajecar and Loznica, the stadiums in Nis and Kragujevac will be reconstructed, followed by the construction of the national stadium in Belgrade.
During a tour of the newly built "Kraljevica" stadium in Zajecar in the company of UEFA President Aleksandar Ceferin, he said that the national stadium in Belgrade will be completed by December 1, 2026.
"We sent a letter saying that the finals of the Europa League should be played when the stadium is built, it will be in the stadium that will be ready by December 1, 2026. It will be a big thing, and as far as major competitions are concerned, better infrastructure is needed," Vucic said.
He stated that in addition to Nis and Kragujevac, the Belgrade stadiums of FC Partizan and Crvena zvezda, which "must be modernized", remain to be reconstructed.
