Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic discussed Wednesday with Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, cooperation in the fields of defense, military industry, energy and renewable energy sources, said the President’s office.

Vucic thanked his guest on the Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry’s first visit to Serbia, noting that Serbia is interested in deepening cooperation with this country, which it sees as a potentially important partner.

The two officials agreed that there are many untapped potentials for the development of a partnership in the fields of agriculture, tourism, construction, IT sector, energy and renewable energy sources.

Vucic invited businessmen and investors from Saudi Arabia to invest in Serbia and take part in join projects with local businessmen, while Minister Al Saud added that the business community is precisely the key factor in building good relations between countries and expressed interest in strengthening cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

Serbia’s Foreign Minister Nikola Selakovic discussed with Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud bilateral relations and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Selakovic said the meeting was important because this is the first bilateral visit of a Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister to Serbia.

“Serbia sees Saudi Arabia as an important and friendly country with which we want to enhance and strengthen our bilateral relations,” said Selakovic, adding that he and his Saudi Arabian counterpart expressed readiness to strengthen the political dialogue, paving the way for future cooperation.

Al Saud said he discussed with Selakovic ways in which the two countries can improve relations in all fields and that he is determined to increase the number of official visits at all levels.

„The volume of trade between Serbia and Saudi Arabia has increased and reached 80 percent in 2021 compared to 2020. In our talk on energy supply, we proposed initiatives, projects and investments in that area,“ said Al Saud.
