Vucic: Serbia wants to progress with other countries; 7 pct growth in 2021

Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday his country was interested in global trade as one of its most important priorities and estimated the economic growth of seven percent in 2021.
Opening Serbia's pavilion at the World Exhibition Expo 2020 in Dubai on Friday, Vucic said his country would be represented in the best possible way as an economically prosperous country.
In the presence of high-ranking officials from the United Arab Emirates, he added that "we will present our economy, innovations, culture, religion. Our wish is to put Serbia on the list of the most successful, most competitive countries."
Vucic added that Serbia attracted the most investments in the region and that 2021 would end with economic growth of seven percent, which was much better than last year and might be the best result in Europe.
He praised Serbia's relations with the UAE, emphasising that about 1,000 companies from that country operated in Serbia and that a joint vaccine factory was under construction in Belgrade.
Vucic said Belgrade Waterfront was also a joint project, which put Serbia's capital on the list of cities with the most significant investments.
The world exhibition will last until March 31, 2022, under the slogan "Connecting minds, creating the future".
The first World's Fair was held in 1851 in London.
So far, some of the essential technological discoveries have been presented at these events, such as electric telegraph, plastic, electric loom, typewriter, telephone, television, computer, alternating current, diesel engine, sound film, escalator, X-ray, colour photography. The Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Atomium in Brussels were, among other venues, built for the need of world exhibitions.
