Vucic: Serbian military needs to be stronger
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday that the military needs to be strengthened because “the small and weak are bullied”.
“We saw that in the 1990s and again on March 17, 2004 during the pogrom in Kosovo as well as in 2008 when Kosovo declared independence,” he said. According to the president, the Serbian military is 15 times stronger today than it was seven or eight years ago. He said that the state will earmark 200 million Euro a year for the military industry.
Vucic said that Serbia bought Russian Kornet man-portable anti-tank guided missiles at what he said was a good price. “We got missiles from Russia. Kornet missiles are the best in the world, better than the American Javelin and are a huge reinforcement for the Serbian ground forces,” he said.
He said that the air force and AA defenses would become drastically stronger in the next three years when neighboring Croatia is due to receive French Rafale multi-role combat aircraft which, combined with better radar systems, would give it an edge over Serbia.
