Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) secured victory in a repeat vote at polling station 25 “Elan” in the town of Kosjeric, beating the United for Kosjeric list, which received 153 votes.
He noted that voter turnout was up by four people compared to the previous vote. He highlighted that the opposition lost 72 votes, while the We Won’t Give Serbia Up - Aleksandar Vucic list gained 72 votes. Turnout in Kosjeric exceeded 81.5 percent, he added.
Turnout at the June 8, 2025 local elections in Kosjeric was record-breaking. The opposition United for Kosjeric list initially declared victory, only for Serbian President Vucic to declare victory for the ruling SNS two hours later. It turned out that the SNS had 51 more votes than the United for Kosjeric list.
The repeat election was triggered after the Higher Court in Uzice annulled the June 8 vote at polling station 25 due to an unregistered individual casting a ballot.
On Tuesday throughout the day, local activists and residents were present in Kosjeric, alongside groups of unidentified men wearing caps. After 4 pm, another group of about 30 people joined them, leading to verbal confrontations, insults, and chanting.
Heavy police presence surrounded the polling station, with patrol vehicles and vans deployed to maintain order.
