Vucic: Serbia’s position difficult and complicated
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that his talks with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock were not easy and added that Serbia’s position is difficult and complicated.
“Our position is difficult, certainly extremely complicated and additionally complicated by statements from (Russian) President Putin. I will adress that tomorrow. I fear everything that is coming,” Vucic told reporters in Berlin. He said that a change in Germany’s stand on Kosovo “won’t happen” and expressed satisfaction with official Berlin’s interest in talking to Belgrade.
The Serbian president is scheduled to address the nation in Belgrade on Friday. He was due to make that address and hold a news conference last Friday but decided to postpone it.
Outgoing Prime Minister Ana Brnabic congratulated Vucic “for once again finding a way to defend Serbia’s position” at his meetings in Berlin.
Vucic said that he would explain the increasing interest in Serbia on Friday.
He said that his meeting with Baerbock focused on Serbia’s European prospects, the crisis in Ukraine and the situation in Kosovo.
The president said he would be meeting with representatives of Serbian political parties to hear their views. Vucic said that Serbia is on the path to Europe and added that he sees no change in direction. He said that tactical issues are a matter of daily reaction.
