Vucic: Serbs the only ones under threat in Kosovo

He added that the meeting “on all important issues lasted over an hour and a half.”

“What is important to us, as Stoltenberg said and as I can confirm, is cooperation with NATO and KFOR, in the hope that we will ensure some level of safety and security for Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija. When he says that KFOR ensures a safe and secure environment in Kosovo for all communities – there is no need to ensure peace and stability for anyone but the Serbs, only the Serbs have been attacked, never the Albanians, only the Serbs have been attacked since 2002, 2004, and especially after 2008, especially since (Kosovo Prime Minister Albin) Kurti has been in power,” said Vucic.

He said he informed Stoltenberg that “almost 13 percent of Serbs left the north of Kosovo and Metohija in the past year alone.” (Kosovo and Metohija is the official name for what the Serbian authorities consider to be the country's southern province)

“This is due to the enormous pressure, arrests, harassment and threats coming from the Pristina regime. If that is not violence, then I don’t know what is. I know the West is interested only in the Banjska case and the clashes in Zvecan before that,” said Vucic.

“I have to say we have a different view of what happened but we understand well what the Western and NATO demands are,” said the Serbian President.

He described cooperation with NATO as decent and good.

“Serbia continues to be a militarily neutral country, we know who is in command of the military. I will ask the Government to consider the decision to resume joint exercises that we had earlier with NATO. It is very difficult to explain to people in Serbia, NATO's mandate is defined by Resolution 1244. We have a problem with the political interpretation that comes from many countries from the West, that being – we like Resolution 1244 when it talks about the NATO mandate, but not when it talks about Serbia’s territorial integrity,” said Vucic.

Serbia will “preserve peace and stability,” he added.

“In the dialogue process it is doing everything that can lead to a compromise. They will not establish the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities (CSM), not as long as Kurti is in power, they’ll just keep coming up with excuses,” he said.

The Serbian President voiced his opinion that the meeting with Stoltenberg was very good and important for Serbia.
