A large crowd of Belgrade University students gathered in front of the building to disrupt the news conference. Vucic claimed that there were no more than 600 of them but live coverage showed a much larger crowd.

Vucic said all the student demands would be met, starting with the release of all documents related to the reconstruction of the main railway station in the northern city of Novi Sad where a collapsed canopy roof claimed 15 lives when it fell on November 1. He brought out what he said were 195 documents in eight large folders which Prime Minister Milos Vucevic and Railway Infrastructure company official Aleksandra Damjanovic were asked to published on Thursday.

He addressed a second student demand, saying that everyone arrested during protests have been released. “I have never pardoned anyone but if they are sentenced for rioting, I will pardon them. So that problem is also solved,” he said in the live appearance.

Vucic said he expects the authors of the demands to say they have been met and go back to class. “Do I really expect that, of course not but then things will be clear to the public in Serbia that it wasn’t about those demands,” he added.

The Serbian President said the students were louder than he was “so no one can hear that their demands were met”.

He also called Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabic to put a vote of no confidence in the government and her dismissal on the agenda and secure a quorum.

Commenting the crowd of students shouting and blowing whistles outside the Presidency building, Vucic said that they rushed to come there as soon as he called a news conference and showed that their protest is political.

Vucic said he would visit the families of the people who were killed at Novi Sad Railway station who would see him to talk about what he can do for them.

He said the authorities would meet the demand to increase the funding for universities by 20 percent.
