Vucic to MEPs: Serbia remains on EU road

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday that Serbia remains on the road to the European Union.

“Serbia remains on the EU road but as an independent and sovereign country which takes its own decisions on its state and national interests,” he wrote in an Instagram post after a meeting with MEPs Vladimir Bilcik and Matjaz Nemec.

An Instagram post said that they had an open and honest conversation on all important and difficult issues which “we do not always agree on”. “The MEPs informed of the mood in Brussels in terms of our country’s policies,” Vucic wrote.

“I reiterated Serbia’s well known position on numerous challenges which face not only our country but the entire region and the European Union as well as on the global political arena,” he added.

European Parliament Rapporteur for Serbia Vladimir Bilcik and Nemec, a member of the Delegation to the EU-Serbia Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee, are in Belgrade for a two-day working visit which includes meetings with top state officials.
