Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday that universities will resume classes in April.

Students in all of Serbia’s university centers have taken over their colleges and have staged protests to demand accountability for the deaths of 16 people in the collapse of a concrete awning at Novi Sad Railway Station on November 1.

Speaking in the southern Serbian town of Zitoradja, Vucic told local resident that the end is near and the patience and tolerance of parents spending money to pay for their children’s education is at an end.

Danas daily said that every Belgrade University school received a notice from the Education Ministry that they would be inspected.

He added that university professors “should not pout”, adding that they will get their salaries once they fully resume classes.

The authorities have not paid school teachers and university professors who have not been holding classes.
