Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic on Tuesday evening said that university professors “who don’t do any work” will not get paid, adding that the government has decided that, in the future, it “will no longer reward those who don’t work.”
“Professors at university faculties who do nothing except participate in blockades will get potatoes. I think they are due to be paid tomorrow. They will get nothing. Joy has now spread through millions of homes in Serbia. People don’t want to be robbed by someone,” Vucic told the pro-regime Pink TV.
He said the state will not reward non-workers to appease them, but will instead stand up to them.
Vucic added that someone will have to be held accountable for the fact that many students will lose an academic year.
