Vucic, Vucevic call for Novi Sad courthouse blockade until detained SNS activists freed

In a post on X, Vucevic reacted to news that the Novi Sad Appeals Court had replaced detention with house arrest for three activists from the city, while sending the decision for three others back for reconsideration. He described the ruling an “unprecedented scandal.”

The four SNS activists are in custody on suspicion of assaulting two students in Novi Sad, leaving one female student seriously injured. Following the incident, Vucevic resigned as Serbia’s Prime Minister on January 28.

The SNS leader said that, if the courthouse blockade is the only way to ensure equal treatment, he will call on SNS members, supporters, and citizens to do just that.

“Since it is clear that violence, pressure, and blockades are the only language some parts of the judiciary understand, starting Monday, no one will be able to enter the Novi Sad courthouse until these four young men, held for nearly four months on far lesser charges than those who have called for terrorism, are released,” Vucevic added.

He said the decision to release activists from the Movement of Free Citizens (PSG) and Students Against Authoritarian Government (STAV) groups “brought Serbia’s judiciary to its knees and humiliated it.” “The vast majority of Serbian citizens feel disappointed and disgusted with those elected to uphold the country’s constitutional and legal order,” the ruling party leader added.

Vucic: You free terrorists but keep boys who defended our offices in custody

Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic backed Vucevic’s call for SNS members and activists to block the Novi Sad Appeals Court until the four young men, accused of attacking students outside SNS offices, are freed.

“You release terrorists and coup plotters after two months, but keep boys who were just defending our offices in detention. I spoke with (SNS) party leader Milos Vucevic and I fully support his plan to block the Appeals Court and the entire Novi Sad courthouse whenever they decide. No police or anyone else will get through until they release these people,” said the president.

“Releasing proven terrorists while detaining SNS members for months just for defending our party offices from blockaders and thugs shows best that sections of the judiciary are directly involved in trying to spark a color revolution in Serbia,” said SNS leader Milos Vucevic.
