Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said Thursday that Serbia will have no problems with gas supplies, as he expects a short-term agreement with Russia for natural gas deliveries to be signed shortly.

He welcomed the news that the United States has extended the license for Russia’s Lukoil until April 26 next year.

“That means Lukoil’s 112 petrol stations in Serbia will be able to keep operating with imported oil derivatives,” Vucic told the pro-regime Pink TV, adding that it is a good thing Lukoil stations are evenly spread across the country, with only nine percent of them located in Belgrade.

At the same time, the president warned that “some other things are getting complicated” and pointed to a series of logistical challenges ahead.

Vucic said 51 locations across Serbia will be left without a single petrol station. He explained that, under the new regulations some existing stations will have to close. This means that people in certain areas will face drives of 15 to 20 kilometers to the nearest pump, which will be a big problem for farmers.
