Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic and a vice president of the Bundestag Claudia Benedikta Roth discussed in Belgrade on Thursday the continuation of the economic cooperation between the two countries, following the change of power in Bon.

Roth informed Vucic about the current political situation in Germany after the general elections and said she hoped the Greens in her country’s government would help the realisation of the ‘Green Agenda for Western Balkans’ adopted in Sofia last year.

She recalled that the European Union had already allocated money for the project,

Vucic reiterated Serbia’s commitment to the future and some of its priorities like the improvement of the economic cooperation with the EU, especially with Germany, one of the largest investors in his country.

The two agreed Serbia had made substantial progress in the economy in the last several years, as well as in political and social life, Vucic’s office said in a statement.

Besides, Vucic and Roth, a member of the German Greens, shared the opinion that the rule of law and the ‘Green Agenda’ were the area that needed more work.

According to Roth, Germany was ready to engage more intensively to accelerate the reform process in these segments.
