Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced on Sunday that in the event that the UN General Assembly adopts the resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica, Serbia will apply for a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council on the same day.

Vucic estimated that, in the event that it submits his candidacy, Serbia will „convincingly defeat the two NATO countries from Eastern Europe“ that have announced candidacies for non-permanent members of the UN Security Council.

„When they vote on the resolution and if they pass it because we will fight until the last moment, on the same day we will run for a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2025 and 2026,“ the president told reporters at the „Vasa Carapic“ barracks, where he attended commemorating the Day of the Special Purpose Military Police Detachment.

He announced that in the case of the Resolution being passed, Serbia will submit resolutions about the genocide in Kragujevac, Kraljevo, Jajinci and Jasenovac every year, but will not mention who is behind it.

„We will not mention the Germans anywhere, but we will submit resolutions about the genocide committed on the territory of Serbia, in Kragujevac, Kraljevo, and Jajinci. Who committed it, you decide who. We are not attacking anyone there, that is a civilizational value, and somewhere 90 times more people died than in Srebrenica,“ said Vucic.
