Serbian Internal Affairs Minister Aleksandar Vulin said on Tuesday that anyone committing environmental crimes will be held accountable.

A ministry press release quoted him as saying that criminal charges were filed almost 300 cases over the past four months against people committing crimes against the environment.

Speaking after a visit to the Ecological Crime and Environmental Protection Unit, Vulin said that the charges were filed against people who killed or mistreated animals, poachers, illegal logging and water pollution.

According to the minister, the Unit will step up its efforts across the country.
