The Serbian Internal Affairs Ministry is set to expand the Aviation Academy with a training center, Minister Aleksandar Vulin said on Wednesday.

“Investing in equipment and weapons primarily requires investments in people, in their education and training,” a press release quoted Vulin as saying during a meeting with Education Minister Branko Ruzic. The Aviation Academy is a high-school level institution. The press release said that the training center is a joint project by the two ministries.

Vulin said that the Ministry Helicopter Unit has 17 aircraft and will get three new Superpuma and two Kam 32 helicopters later this year.

The Internal Affairs Ministry advertised the auction sale of a Bell 206b-3 made in 1979 with 2,543 hours flying time.

Minister Ruzic recalled that a higher-level school was set up as part of the academy and added that the airfield in the city of Vrsac where the Academy is housed has the capacities to train both pilots and ground crew and secure certified licenses.
