Serbian Internal Affairs Minister Aleksandar Vulin said on Tuesday that the state’s fight against the Mafia will not end.
He told the pro-government TV Pink that there is no room for the Mafia in Serbia. He added that the police know who is trying to take over from the organized crime group headed by the recently arrested Veljko Belivuk aka Velja Nevolja. Belivuk and several others in his group were arrested and charged with a number of crimes, including drug trafficking and murder. The group was allegedly connected to Partizan FC and had offices at the club stadium in Belgrade.
Asked about attempts to take over the Belivuk group’s operations, Vulin said “that is that scum operate”. “As soon as one organized group is removed, someone wants to replace them. We know who they are and are actively working on preventing that. We know who our enemies are and we won’t allow the forming of another clan like that,” the minister said.
