On the same day that he discussed “Serbia’s European path” with the political Right in the European Parliament (EP), outgoing Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin said that the European Union (EU) is preparing a project to overthrow Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

In an interview with the Russian TASS news agency, circulated by various Russian media outlets, Vulin said, “The attempt to overthrow my government on the streets of Belgrade is not a protest by the discontented, but the active work of Western intelligence services and the political project of the Brussels administration to replace President Vucic.”

He added that Brussels plans to bring a new government to power in Serbia, which will be in line with EU policy, namely with the recognition of Kosovo, the rejection of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) Republika Srpska (RS) entity, and the imposition of sanctions against Russia.

Media from Republika Srpska (RS) reported that Vulin also said from the European Parliament on Wednesday that the EU is no longer the collection of values that Serbia once admired.

“Serbia built its relationship with the EU guided by emotions. Serbia adored the EU and forgave its every sin and betrayal. This blind love, devoid of reason, led Serbia to forget that the EU participated in bombing Serbia and Republika Srpska and in recognizing so-called Kosovo, while Serbia also acts as if it fails to see that the EU is involved in every attempt to undermine President Vucic and the authorities in Serbia. The belief that the Balkan peoples are inclined to passionate love, unlike the peoples of northern or western Europe, has proven to be true in the case of the EU and Serbia. Imagine Belgium being bombed, having part of its territory taken, being asked to recognize the stolen territory, and still having to fight to meet the conditions to join such an organization without asking for an apology or a change in policy towards itself. Belgium doesn’t have that kind of love, but Serbia did towards the EU,” emphasized Vulin, reported Radio Television of Republika Srpska (RTRS).

He said it was time for Serbia to stop being infatuated with the EU and to begin viewing its position in relation to the EU more rationally.

Vulin emphasized that the EU's active participation in the dismantling of the former Yugoslavia, its unequivocal support for NATO’s aggression against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Republika Srpska, have done little to contribute to peace, and countless Serbian victims have not received justice.

He argued that the EU is simply no longer the collection of values that Serbia admired, that this is not the Europe of De Gaulle, the Europe of free nations. The EU has lost any moral right to lead us and evaluate us, said Vulin.

“We dreamed of a Europe of free nations and equal rights; we awakened at the doorstep of a European Union that does not want us,” Vulin said at the European Parliament in Brussels.
