Serbian Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin said the ministry has proved that the President of Serbia and members of his family were wiretapped, adding that the evidence was handed over to the competent prosecutor's office, which will take actions on the matter.

„I have infinite faith in the prosecution, I can’t make a judgment, but I’m sure that they will qualify this crime. I don’t know whether it will be this or that and what is the level of social danger but I know that (President) Aleksandar Vucic and his family members were eavesdropped, that our system was abused, that it was done maliciously with the idea that you listen to what President Vucic and members of his family are talking about with different people and that no person who was wiretapped was charged, especially not convicted,” said Vulin.

He stressed that neither the President nor the people who spoke to him are criminals and that there is no single conversation is questionable.

The minister also noted that each of the wiretapped conversations had been preserved, that there was nothing incriminating in them, and that he had been informed about it by those who were entitled by law to hear them.

„We would do President Vucic the greatest favour if we published all these conversations so that Serbia could see what they talked about and that there was nothing there, and that everything from beginning to end was malicious and directed against President Vucic. But we must not do that, that is the law,” he stressed.

He pointed out that the ministry proved the wiretapping of the president “on some 1,882 intercepted conversations.”
