‘We Speak Because They Cannot’ panel in NYC hears witness testimonies

I am touched by the testimonies of all the Serbs who came here to testify of what they experienced 30 years ago, Vucic told the panel discussion titled “We Speak Because They Cannot” that heard testimonies from Serb victims and witnesses of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The panel debate was hosted by Serbia’s Permanent Mission to the UN at the UN headquarters in New York.

This is just a group of people living in the US. We did not bring here hundreds of thousands of people of Serbian origin from Bosnia and Serbia. We wanted to show that the truth is not one-sided, and never has been. This is precisely what some of the victims said, explained Vucic.

All these people will feel very bad if a UN Srebrenica Resolution is adopted, it will brand these victims as members of a genocidal nation.

“Will this resolution unite the people in the region, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, will it ensure peace in the years to come? You all know the answer is no. What is the real purpose of this? To punish a freedom-loving people. That’s not very rational. It is OK, but what will be the consequence of such decisions?” Vucic asked.

“I’m asking you once again, I appeal to you, I cannot make threats like some of the co-sponsoring countries because I come from a small country of proud people. I urge you not to vote for this resolution and to create conditions for dialogue and inclusivity,” said the Serbian President.

I petition you once again to reconsider your stance, positions and decisions, because this can have massive influence on many future decisions, not only in the region I come from, but in the entire world, he added.
