Weather service warns of severe heatwave: Serbia braces for 42°C highs

From Thursday through next Tuesday, maximum temperatures are forecast to range between 35°C and 40°C, with central and southern Serbia expected to see local highs of up to 42°C.

In Belgrade, the peak of the heat is anticipated between August 20 and 25, with daily highs fluctuating between 35°C and 38°C.

Forecasters warned that the incoming heatwave will lead to a significant deterioration in conditions for firefighting.

On the hydrological front, the service issued a warning for the Danube, Sava, and Tisa noting that water levels are expected to drop below the minimum thresholds required for safe navigation in the coming days.
