I thank them whether they open Cluster 3 or not. The important thing is that we continue fighting and maintaining dialogue with all of them, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic told Serbian state TV (RTS), commenting on the lack of agreement among European Union (EU) member states regarding the opening of new chapters in Serbia’s EU negotiations.

EU ambassadors on Wednesday failed to give the green light for opening Cluster 3. Vucic said that Hungary will schedule a new meeting for next week, expressing confidence about this development.

Eight EU member states voted against the measure on Wednesday: the three Baltic states, Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands, Croatia, and Bulgaria.

“If God were to ask me what we did to offend the Bulgarians, I wouldn’t know what I would say. I think I understand the real reasons, though you will never hear them. As for the Croations, I understand everything, I don’t have much trouble understanding that. But for us, there are two important things: to keep fighting and to keep talking to all of them,” said Vucic.

He emphasized that it is extremely positive that Germany fully supports opening Cluster 3, noting that France and Italy have always been and remain supportive of the measure.

“I thank them whether they open Cluster 3 or not. No problem. Next year, we will aim to be the fastest-growing economy in all of Europe,” said the Serbian president.
