The parent company "Galens d.o.o." was founded by brothers Aleksandar and Bojan Galic in 2004, with an initial capital of 151,400 dinars (about 1.250 euros). Over time, from 2009 to 2019, other subsidiary firms were established, whose capital and business grew rapidly with the SNS coming to power. The latest company, "Avenija Galens" on the day of its establishment, in 2019, subscribed a capital of 555 million dinars in monetary value only.
The assets of Galens, joined in 2014 by businessman Nebojsa Petric with 50 percent with the company "Promist", has been difficult to follow since then, because it has recorded almost daily growth. In Novi Sad only, "Galens" owns tens of thousands of square meters of both construction land, as well as green areas and fields on the outskirts of the city, which are eventually renamed into building plots through amendments to the regulatory plans.
Owing to the fact that this company obviously knows in advance where to invest and buy cheap unusable land, which is then declared a construction zone by the city government, Galens has become one of the most powerful developper in Novi Sad. In the last five years, this company has built hundreds of thousands of square meters in some of the most attractive city locations, including the center of Novi Sad.
In addition to the "Pupin Palace", which the citizens of Novi Sad pejoratively, due to the unofficial connection of this company with Milan Dodik, also call "Dodik's Palace", in the scope of which is located the hotel "Pupin", Galens is simultaneously building several residential blocks. Due to the complex of Galens' buildings Kraljev park ("King's Park"), the Novi Sad authorities removed the protection from the historical monument Trscara and then demolished it, in order to free Galens' plot. This was followed by the "Garden" complex, which also benefited from changes to the urban plans, and at the same time about thirty more residential buildings were built throughout the city. Currently, this company has a dozen more active construction sites in Novi Sad, and several more Galens "resorts" and "gardens" are expected to be completed soon.
While the entire city Novi Sad is Galens' construction site/playground, this company expands its business to Belgrade, Jahorina and Zlatibor. On Zlatibor is already in the final phase a huge building "Zlatiborki biser", as well as the hotel "Jahorina Resort" on Jahorina. This company also invested a few million euros in Zvornik’s "Zitopromet", at whose opening ceremony Dodik personally cut the ribbon. In the financial disclosure form of "Galens invest" the assets of the Galic brothers and the Petric family is intertwined, and thus this company owns 205 plots in the National Park Fruska Gora, which were officially purchased by Sanja Petric, co-owner of Galens. Petric is also the owner of a forest in the Tara National Park. In July last year, by purchasing shares worth 7 million KM, or EUR 3.5 million, Galens became the owner of "Pavlovic International Bank" from Banja Luka.
In addition to everything, and we are talking here only about real estate and finances that are in the official documents available to the public, Galens is also the owner of the plot at the Novi Sad Shipyard, which is why it is expected to be the developer of the megalomaniac project 'Novi Sad Waterfront, which the Novi Sad government has been insisting on for years, despite being challenged by the pundits and a large part of the citizens of Novi Sad. Namely, this project, worth about 300 million euros, envisages the construction of a huge residential and business complex, which is why it is even planned to move the existing embankment and "enter" the Danube riverbed 500 meters, which would directly affect the flow of the river, but also endanger all coastal settlements from Futog to Novi Sad due to possible floods.
Despite the persistence and collusion of Galens and the authorities, this project has not yet come to life, but only thanks to the experts from the Vode Vojvodine public company and the Jaroslav Cerni Institute for Water Management, who vetoed this delusional idea. However, the SNS has already found a way around this obstacle in its manner, by removing an expert from the position of Director of Vode Vojvodine who refused to give them consent and appointed in his place the cooperative Srdjan Krusevic, a Master of Economics. The last obstacle is "Jaroslav Cerni", which, according to the announcements of the director of the institute himself, will soon probably become part of "Millennium Team", known as the "SNS octopus for all deals".
