Deputy leader of the Party of Freedom and Justice, Marinika Tepic, said that the first witness in the case against MP Dragan Markovic Palma, who is suspected of organising prostitution which allegedly included underage victims, will testify on Monday, May 10, in the town of Jagodina.

Markovic is the leader of the United Serbia party, which is part of the ruling coalition. He has headed the local authorities in Jagodina since the 1990s.

Tepic said that the decision to transfer the case to Jagodina is “scandalous,” arguing that local authorities are fully under the control of Markovic and that this “endangers the safety and life of witnesses,” especially since there were already reports of intimidation related to the case.

Markovic, who is also the president of the City Assembly of Jagodina, said on Sunday that he filed charges against the accuser, a protected witness.

He told TV Pink that he will also file charges against Tepic and Sanda Raskovic Ivic, from the People’s Party, for their “lies” about the parties which he organised for business partners where young women were allegedly engaged in prostitution.
