Young man arrested for allegedly fighting in Ukraine, military ID and gear seized

Acting on the orders of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, members of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP), the Criminal Police Department (UKP), the Counter-Terrorism Service, and the Security Intelligence Agency (BIA) detained a 20-year-old man, identified by his initials, F. Dj., on suspicion of committing the crime of participating in a war or armed conflict in a foreign state, the MUP said in a press release.

During the arrest, authorities discovered a Ukrainian military ID, a full camouflage uniform featuring Ukrainian army insignia, and a helmet equipped with a built-in camera. Police also found documentation detailing F. Dj.’s enlistment into the Ukrainian armed forces, the press release said.

The suspect has been remanded in custody for up to 48 hours, and is to be brought before the prosecutor’s office to face a criminal complaint.
