Mladi Kula secured the required number of signatures in support of their election ticket but were told that the municipal registry staff would not be available for the next few days. They were also refused service at the only notary public’s office in Kula.
The group ferried people to other municipalities to register their signatures.
Under Serbian law, voters who support a political party or group standing in elections have to sign their name in a registry in front of registry or notary public staff.
Mladi Kula said that a “phantom group” with a similar name were allowed to register their supporters’ signatures. They said they were also stopped by traffic police. The group has student support.
