Zelenskyy meets Vucic in Belgrade, Serbia announces new humanitarian aid for Ukraine

Zelenskyy was welcomed with an official ceremony at the Palace of Serbia, where he held a bilateral meeting with Vucic followed by talks between the two countries' delegations.

The Ukrainian president arrived in Belgrade on Friday, when Vucic hosted him for dinner ahead of Saturday's official programme.

New humanitarian aid for Ukraine

Following the talks, Zelenskyy thanked Serbia for its decision to provide Ukraine with a new package of humanitarian assistance, particularly in the healthcare and energy sectors.

Vucic, meanwhile, said trade between Serbia and Ukraine had increased significantly and expressed hope that economic cooperation between the two countries would continue to improve.

The Serbian president also reiterated Belgrade's support for Ukraine's territorial integrity and said Serbia was grateful that the support was mutual.

Vucic said the two countries also support each other on their respective paths towards membership of the European Union.

Serbia and Ukraine sign memorandum

Following the bilateral meeting, Serbia and Ukraine signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in animal health and food safety.

The memorandum between Serbia's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and Ukraine's State Service on Food Safety and Consumer Protection was signed at the Palace of Serbia by Serbian Agriculture Minister Dragan Glamocic and Ukrainian Ambassador to Serbia Oleksandr Lytvynenko.

Ahead of Saturday's talks, Vucic said the discussions would focus on European integration as well as bilateral economic and energy cooperation.

Meeting follows Kyiv summit

Zelenskyy's visit to Belgrade had been announced for some time and comes three weeks after the Ukraine-Southeast Europe summit in Kyiv, which Vucic attended.

According to the N1 material, Vucic was the only participant at the summit who did not sign the joint declaration.
